Behind the Scenes at Bellagio: Demonstrating Laser Cleaning for MGM

Laser Cleaning Demonstration September 2025 Completed by Advanced Laser Restoration (Corporate)

ALR drove four hours to Bellagio for an extensive on-site demonstration for MGM — stripping wood components in under an hour and restoring submerged fountain piping to a like-new appearance.

From wood restoration to submerged fountain piping, Advanced Laser Restoration demonstrated how laser cleaning could address maintenance challenges at one of Las Vegas's most recognizable properties. When MGM contacted Advanced Laser Restoration, our team was in California training a new machine owner. We made the four-hour drive to Las Vegas to conduct an extensive on-site demonstration at Bellagio, one of MGM's premier properties. The visit offered an opportunity to put laser cleaning equipment to work on real maintenance and restoration applications—and show MGM's team what the technology could accomplish firsthand. EXPLORING THE WORK BEHIND THE EXPERIENCE Maintaining properties of this scale involves a wide range of challenges. MGM identified applications involving graffiti, rust, kitchen and bathroom maintenance, and wood restoration. Behind the guest-facing spaces, MGM also operates an underground woodworking facility where its team restores woodwork used throughout the properties. This department became one of the most memorable parts of the demonstration. Advanced Laser Restoration worked with MGM's team to evaluate the requested applications, demonstrate equipment, and help identify suitable options for their needs. Most of the applications demonstrated produced impressive results, with two standing out in particular. WOOD RESTORATION: FROM DAYS TO UNDER AN HOUR For the woodworking department, the demonstration showed the potential to shorten a time-consuming stage of refinishing. On selected components, the laser completed stripping and surface preparation in under an hour—work the team described as taking days through its existing process. Watching the results emerge gave the woodworking team a practical view of how laser cleaning could fit into its restoration workflow and help move components toward refinishing sooner. The demonstration highlighted a particularly compelling application for ALR: helping skilled craftspeople spend less time removing old finishes and more time restoring the woodwork itself. RESTORING PIPING FROM THE FAMOUS BELLAGIO FOUNTAINS Another standout application involved submerged piping associated with the famous Bellagio fountains. Advanced Laser Restoration demonstrated how effectively the laser could clean the affected surfaces, bringing the demonstrated piping back to a like-new appearance. For a property known around the world for its fountains, this was a memorable example of laser cleaning's potential beyond the surfaces guests see every day. It showed how the technology could support the maintenance of equipment working behind the scenes. DEMONSTRATING POSSIBILITIES, BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS The Bellagio visit brought several different applications into one hands-on evaluation. From wood components to fountain piping, MGM's team could see the equipment operate on its own materials and assess the results directly. For Advanced Laser Restoration, opportunities like this reflect the effort that goes into developing industrial and commercial relationships: responding to an inquiry, traveling to the site, testing the applications, and helping the customer understand where the technology fits. That work also helps introduce laser cleaning to organizations with needs across multiple properties, creating opportunities for conversations involving ALR's franchise network. Advanced Laser Restoration continues to push the technology forward through demonstrations, application development, and hands-on support. Our visit to Bellagio is one example of that commitment—and of the growing possibilities for laser cleaning in hospitality maintenance and restoration.
