Bringing Manufacturers Together: ALR's Collaboration with Flextur

Demonstration Days 2024 Completed by Advanced Laser Restoration (Corporate)

Through project collaboration and demonstration days drawing hundreds of attendees, Advanced Laser Restoration and Ohio-based Flextur have introduced laser cleaning to the manufacturing community — with Flextur and others adopting the technology.

Through project collaboration and demonstration days attended by hundreds of people, Advanced Laser Restoration and Ohio-based Flextur have helped introduce laser cleaning to the manufacturing community. A live demonstration can turn curiosity into a practical conversation. When manufacturers watch equipment operate, inspect the results, and ask questions directly, they can begin to understand how a technology might fit their own work. That hands-on approach has been central to Advanced Laser Restoration's relationship with Flextur in Dalton, Ohio. Known for its welding tables, fixturing systems, and manufacturing workspaces, Flextur also provides metal fabrication and contract manufacturing services spanning cutting, forming, machining, welding, and coating. Its capabilities make the facility a fitting setting for introducing laser cleaning to people who work with metal every day. A RELATIONSHIP BUILT AROUND REAL MANUFACTURING WORK Advanced Laser Restoration has worked closely with Flextur on projects, developing a relationship grounded in practical applications and direct experience with the equipment. With fabrication and finishing processes—including paint and powder coating—part of Flextur's work, the collaboration creates opportunities to explore where laser cleaning can contribute to preparation, maintenance, and restoration tasks. It also brings together two complementary perspectives: Flextur's experience in manufacturing and ALR's focus on laser cleaning equipment and application development. DEMONSTRATION DAYS THAT DREW HUNDREDS The collaboration extended beyond individual projects into demonstration days, bringing hundreds of people together to see laser cleaning firsthand. Inside Flextur's facility, attendees watched ALR equipment in operation, examined cleaning results, and discussed the technology with the team. The setting gave those conversations a practical foundation: manufacturers could see the process in a working industrial environment and consider its relevance to their own operations. The photographs accompanying this case study capture those events—the crowds, the live demonstrations, and ALR equipment on the facility floor. They tell an important part of the story: introducing technology takes people, preparation, and a willingness to show what the equipment can do. FROM INTRODUCTION TO IMPLEMENTATION For a number of the companies introduced to the technology through this collaboration, interest progressed into implementation. Flextur itself has adopted Advanced Laser Restoration's technology, alongside other companies that participated in these engagements. That progression gives the demonstration days their lasting significance. They created opportunities for manufacturers to move from watching a process to evaluating it for their own needs—and, in several cases, putting ALR equipment to work. HELPING LASER CLEANING REACH MORE MANUFACTURERS ALR's relationship with Flextur demonstrates the value of collaboration within the manufacturing community. Working together on projects builds application experience. Hosting demonstration days allows that experience to reach a wider audience. Equipment adoption then carries the technology into additional facilities and workflows. For Advanced Laser Restoration, this is part of the ongoing effort to grow awareness through visible results and direct engagement. Flextur has provided both a manufacturing setting for that work and an example of a company that moved forward with the technology. From a crowded demonstration floor to equipment in operation, the Flextur story shows how hands-on exposure can help manufacturers take the next step with laser cleaning.
